AMLSN Bayelsa Pays a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State
The newly elected Executive Officers of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) Bayelsa State have led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
Being the first time, the Executive Officers who were received at the Deputy Governor Conference Hall seized the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the number-2-man in the State.
The leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Branch MLS. Seleipre Hannah Richard in her opening speech took time to eulogize and applaud the Deputy Governor for his tremendous support to the Branch even as she vowed to foster a better working relationship between the Association and the Deputy Governor.
She presented some issues that were germane to the Association to the helmsman.
These issues are:
Employment of more Medical Laboratory Scientist into the state Civil Service, the inclusion of Medical Laboratory Scientists into Ministry organized Medical programs/outreaches, implementation of the Enhanced Entry Point for existing officers, fast-tracking of the Edict establishing the Bayelsa State Hospital Management Board to include Department of Medical Laboratory Service among other things.
On his part, the Deputy Governor congratulated the new Executive Officer of the Branch even as he praised Medical Laboratory Scientists in the State for organizing a free fair, seamless and smooth election. Also thanked members of the Association for allowing the female folk to be at the helms of affairs also instead of discriminating them.
Senator Lawrence spoke on the significance of the medical laboratory profession to health saying that medicine without diagnosis is akin to working with eyes closed as what Physicians do is prognosis while the Medical Laboratory Scientists carry out the diagnosis.
He described the Medical Laboratory Science profession as the 'skin to the man' stressing that the skin can not be separated from the man.
The Deputy Governor promised to look into the pleas of the Association and assured of the Government renewed support to the Association and all its programs.
The Highlight of the visit was a photo session with the Deputy Governor and the AMLSN Delegation.
